I make tactile pots for everyday use – thrown on the potter’s wheel and dipped, dashed and scribbled with coloured slips.
I’m inspired by those gorgeous North Devon slipware pots from the 17th century onwards. The humble pipkins and porringers inspire me as much as the grand harvest jugs.
There’s something mesmerising about the process of throwing that always brings me back. I’ve been involved in ceramics for over 20 years as a maker and writer. I was editor of Ceramics in Society magazine in the early 2000s.
Making is more important than ever in our digital times.
