Sarah Longbottom

I have always been an avid maker and during an evening course in 2014, I rediscovered my love for ceramics and have been making them regularly ever since. What started off as a passion now borders on obsession, but it keeps me sane!

I studied architecture at university which continues to influence my designs. My ceramics are inspired by the geometric shapes found in architecture and created both in nature and the man-made.

I use hand building and slip casting techniques to produce my ceramics working mainly in porcelain and stoneware using underglaze transfers to add a minimal splash of colour to my work.

I tend to focus on functional ceramics, making plates, dishes and vases with the occasional decorative piece.
