“Hawthorn Hare” Rustic Wall Art

Price £45

230mm diameter approx

Weight: 250g

Inspired by nature “Hawthorn Hare” is a beautiful rustic wall hanging and can be enjoyed inside or outside. Inspired by the hares that leap across the fields on the rural south downs.

I’ve impressed hawthorn leaves into the clay to create the leaf design and have coloured with glazes and underglazes.

I’ve supplied some strong twine for hanging but it could equally hang from nails on a wall.

“North Pole Bear”

Price £35

250mm High x  120mm Wide

Weight: 150g

My current work explores animals that are directly impacted by global warming and the devastation of natural environments. I’ve tried to convey a sense of this situation in this polar bear.

“Snow Hare”

270mm High x  230mm Wide

Weight: 240g

Inspired by winter snow hares that I’ve seen in the highlands of Scotland I hope to create the essence ephemeral wonder in this hare. I used layering and textural techniques to create this piece.

“Blue Bird “ Garden Art

Price £25

 50mm High x 170mm Wide

Weight: 140g

Quirky ceramic bird for the garden or indoors. I’ve made this with stoneware clay and decorated with coloured glazes and it has been fired twice.

The underneath of the bird has a hole 10mm diameter to allow for it to be placed  on a rod/stake (iron, steel, strong bamboo etc)

I produce hand-built sculptural pieces inspired by wild beasts and birds and the beauty of wild places. My local landscape of woodlands, rivers and wild meadows are rich in wildlife and offer me opportunities for connecting with nature. Each animal, bird or beast is sculpted by hand and is unique. As a ceramic artist, I have always enjoyed the sculptural potential of clay over its functional application.

I use a variety of clays which are layered and often textured with the impression of wild plants. My current work also explores animals that are directly impacted by global warming and the devastation of natural environments, polar bears are a reoccurring theme. My work is created as a direct response to nature, it is simple and earthy like the humble clay from which each piece begins.
