I make wheel thrown pottery, which I sometimes alter with carving. The journey of my making has thus far focused on functional ware – vases, jugs, bowls, lidded pots and jars – but I find that the line between the functional and the sculptural is starting to blur. I mainly reduction-fire my work, often exploring ash glazes and playing with high-firing clay which isn’t meant to be high-fired. I am also in love with black clay – and find myself chasing after some obscure perfection of marking on it ….
